Bessie Lucille Nickens was the ninth child of Newman Carroll Nickens and Lydia Lodelia Singletary. She was born Aug, 1937 at Lake, Ascension Parish, La. Bessie married John William "Bill" Smith, date and place unknown. Bill was born 30 Oct, 1930 at Dixie, Clay County, Ark. He was the son of John Tavner Smith and Iva Minnie Cullens. Bill died 18 Jan, 2002 and is buried in Butlerville Cemetery, North Little Rock, Pulaski County, Ark. Bessie Lucille is living.
